TUTORING FOR GRADES 7-12

Message from Nathan Hurwitz:

As a tenured university professor, I have taught at NYU, the University of Pittsburgh, Syracuse University, and Rider University, among others – I have been an educator for 25-plus years.  I know how vital it is that your students keep up with their schoolwork, whatever the year holds.  I will help them not only keep up but excel in their schoolwork this year.

I always did well in school because I liked it.  The key to success in education is getting students to love learning.  That begins by identifying and building on their strengths, rather than starting by focusing on their weaknesses.  I will work with you and your child to develop an individual plan for their academic success.  I have worked with students with the full gamut of IEPs to those looking for enrichment, and everyone in between.

As a high school student, I got a 1560 on my own SATs – I can help your student maximize their SAT/ACT potential by teaching the subject matter and the important test-taking skills.  Having worked with many university admission departments, I can coach your student through writing an excellent college admissions essay.

The best part of being a tutor is the “ah-ha!” moment when you see the student “get it!”  That’s the moment when you know they have become independent learners.
